‘The times we breathe’ – extraBID, Galleria Portopiccolo, Trieste (2026)

“A presence occupies a limited space. Absence, instead, occupies everything.”

In Martina Dalla Stella’s small monochrome paintings, familiar objects appear incomplete and suspended within the white space of the canvas. Through slowness, detail and care, the artist gives form to what remains after an interruption: a silent absence that separates what came before from what comes after.

Through different materials, gestures and perspectives, the exhibition reflects on time not as a linear sequence, but as something lived: an atmosphere that settles into places, bodies and memories, continuously reshaping how we inhabit the present.
